Why?
I’m trying to build a reference site with information about the phenomenon iPod. My goal is to gather all available information about the iPod so that everyone can enjoy the site or find answers to their questions. I myself had hundreds of questions when starting to collect iPods, and if I can help someone I’ll be glad to do so.

Photos
I do not want to show grade A iPods in all my pics. I’m trying to be as broad as possible when deciding which iPod or which box to take a photograph of. I like to collect used but mint iPods. I have a lot of spotless mirror shine iPods and boxes, but most used iPods are not that mint. So I’m trying to show what would be regarded as “decent collector conditions”. I’m also sorry that I have to watermark my photos, but there are too many dishonest people out there. All photos on this site are mine or official Apple Inc promotional photos. If not, I will clearly say so by each photo.

If you think you have some information for my page, if you find something that is wrong, if you have an iPod or any accessories you want to sell or trade or if you have a question that isn’t answered on the pages etc, please do not hesitate to contact me at the following address retroipod(at)gmail.com

  1. Great site, and so beautiful devices !

I would say that M8513LL/A and M8709LL/A are “1.1G” not “1.5G”, because the difference with 1G is so light (packaging, fonts..).

The actual “1.5G” are the M8513LL/B (Mac) and M8697LL/A (Win) because they are externally and functionally identical to 1G and have a scroll wheel. I really think that the scroll wheel is what distinguishes the 1G (and subsequently, 1.1 and 1.5) from the 2G.
